Signage for the University of Leicester

The University. Specifically, the Maths Department therein. They very kindly gave me my first degree, and even more kindly let me come back and do my Ph.D without any kind of formal interview. I’ve made many, many good friends through both of my decisions to study here, be they coursemates, housemates, mates-of-mates-who-became-mates, or those who I met because we wouldn’t have crossed paths had I not studied here. [This is the closest I’ll get to believing in fate.]

The exterior of The Lansdowne pub on London Road

The Lansdowne. Also known as The Land’s Down, The Lamb’s Down, The Lonsdale, and several other not-quite-homophones. Good food, good whiskey, comfy sofas. Best pub in Leicester.

My armchair

My armchair, which has just been sent to the Great Armchair [and Sofa] Home in the Sky [or Somewhere]. Okay, it may be the most hideously-covered piece of furniture you’ve ever seen outside of the Seventies, but it was big and comfy and Where I Sat.

A very pizza-parlour-looking shoe shop
