Fuddland
Top tip: if you’re moving out of a shared house, it’s quite courteous to not leave it until two days before you’re leaving to inform those who are remaining that you own most of the things in the kitchen, and that they’ll therefore have to purchase replacements.
Hence, yesterday, I walked to and from town in the nice warm sun, on the return journey laden with fifty quid’s worth of brand new stuff, including:
- three tea-towels
- a pair of oven gloves
- a measuring jug
- two baking trays
- a roasting tin
- a small frying pan [groovy tefal thermal spot nonsense]
- a pair of tongs
- a twenty-four piece cutley set
- a tin opener
- a garlic press
Actually, I already own two garlic presses, but neither are very good and I’m determined to find The Daddy Of All Garlic Presses. This new one cost almost a fiver, and from the cheap-and-cheerful wonder that is Wilkos too, so it’s got to be reasonable, right?

I’m also on the lookout for a cheap new garlic press, the current one is a b*tch to clean. Follow up report/review requested please!

Re #1: Initial impressions after a couple of uses: still not the wunder-press I’ve been looking for, in that you have to scrape out a lot of the crushed garlic from inside the press, but it’s pretty good overall. And cleaning it is a doddle, with a good scrubbing brush.
If you’re curious as to its design, it’s a carbon copy of the Good Grips one, but half the price. I do love Wilkos.
