Slow news day

A little article in the Irish edition of today’s Times is one of those “File Under Obvious” stories:

Bulk-buying … in Ireland can cost you dearly, an investigation by a consumer group has found.

A 454g tub of Dairygold costs €1.92 … while a 908g tub is €4.10[–]€4.12. … So shoppers who think they are saving money by buying the bigger tub are paying 26c extra than if they bought two small ones.

Surely they don’t mean “an investigation by a consumer group”? They mean “someone who can multiply by 2 has noticed”, right?

I’m always seeing things like this during normal shopping. Just recently I went into HMV and saw the box set of SG-1, season 6 for £39.99. Good price for 6 DVDs. And then I saw that individually they were £5.99. That was a no-brainer.

Re #1: A total no-brainer — you went and bought lots of beer instead, yeah? ;)

I’ve just found this, I might be misinterpreting it but $6 for one or $41 for two, surely that can’t be right.
