Fuddland
Even though I am a bit of a techno geek, I’m still massively impressed that I can sit here in my office and watch a little red dot travel around a map on-screen, and know that that little red dot corresponds exactly to my Dad’s current position around the course of the LA Marathon, over 7,000 miles away!

Re #1: My Dad’s run a few marathons: London, New York and most recently Dublin, plus billions of half-marathons and shorter distances.
Unfortunately the heat and pollution got to him during this marathon — even with a week to acclimatise, all his training has been during the cold Irish winter, and rather sensibly he stopped before he did himself serious damage. He still managed 15 miles though, which I think is farther than all the distances I’ve run in my entire life put together. It’s kind of embarrassing when your Dad is fitter than you’ve ever been, but I’m still proud of him. :)
