Damn impressive: SSCrabble is a fully-functional [single-player] version of the game which uses only CSS, XHTML and Javascript — no Flash and no Java applets. One neat advantage of this apart from the small size and low CPU demand, is — due to the CSS using relative sizes — you can resize the text in your browser to suit your visual needs.
Clever stuff from The Man in Blue, and I have to say his weblog design is one of the most pleasing I’ve seen. Beautiful shading and shadow effects, and nice touches like custom images relevant to each entry.

Holy cow! That’s mad. But fun. This is even more extreme CSS madness, but less fun or useful. I love the Man in Black’s postmodern peeling wallpaper.

Re #1: I also like, by the same chap, the CSS House.
The Man in Black? Johnny Cash? You meant the Man in Blue I take it? ;) [This is the second time that misunderstanding-Man-in-Black-for-comic-effect gag has been made this week!]

I’ve downloaded that game so I can study it in more detail. Very cool.
Though the best computer version of scrabble that I ever came across was that supplied with the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k that I was given one christmas in the early eighties. It had many nice features that I’ve yet to see duplicated elsewhere.

Re #2: Oops, yes - a bit of a musical slip there (or subliminal advertising for the late Johnny Cash - take your pick :-)

Re #3: You want to get yourself down to World of Spectrum — grab an emulator [Spectacular is probably the best for PC, I don’t know about Linux], get a few classic games and immerse yourself in nostalgia. :)
