Fuddland
We used to sing a song during music lessons at primary school whose first few lines went something like:
I’m alone in the house,
Except for the mouse,
Whose hole is under the stairs. All the sounds that I hear,
Something something fear,
Something something something there.
I can’t find any references to this song with Google — but I’m fairly certain I didn’t just make it up. It’s almost on a par with Desree’s Life in its “four cans of Stella and a rhyming dictionary” approach to lyrics:
I’m afraid of the dark,
Especially when I’m in the park,
When there’s no one else around,
Oh I get the shivers.
I don’t wanna see a ghost,
It’s the sight that I fear most,
I’d rather have a piece of toast,
Watch the evening news.
Anyway, this is all leading to the news that, since my housemate has just left for Canada for six weeks work out there [lucky devil], I shall be all alone in this big house for a month and a half. No mice though, just some fish in a tank.
I’m alone in the house,
Except for the fish,
Who swim about in the tank. All the sounds that I hear,
Are of me drinking beer,
I think it’s time for another w —
Anyone want to visit me?

That’s “another walk”, by the way.
I don’t have a rhyming dictionary. Nor any Stella.

I have a rhyming dictionary and walk doesn’t appear to rhyme with bank (according to the book). You could have had: spank, crank, prank, swank, hanky-pank or yank.

Re #2: And after I’ve had all those, can I have a nice lie down?
